6th Stakeholder Forum Athens, June 2022
MOI! Evaluation for Impact! - Stakeholder Forum for Greek Museum Professionals
1st of June 2022 9:30 -15:30 at Arcopolis Museum, Athens, Greece
The Athens Stakeholder Forum offers the opportunity to Greek museum professionals to get to know the European co-operation project “MOI! Museums of Impact”, which is funded by the Creative Europe programme. The project aims to develop a self evaluation framework to help European museums to critically evaluate the effectiveness of their services and increase their social impact by strategically refocusing their work and fostering a better future for communities and society.
The SHF event in Athens, the sixth open forum of the project, is organised by the Directorate of Archaeological Museums, Exhibitions and Educational Programs of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports. Designed to enable better understanding of the project, the Athens event will center on one of the key focus areas of the project, the social relevance of museum activities and the impact they may have on today’s people and society. Museum professionals are invited to an open dialogue on the social value of museum services and what does this value really mean. How museums can really live up their social role, how they can help their communities to face long term challenges and how they address issues such as democracy and human rights, equality and social cohesion, diversity and community well-being. The answers to these questions are important to help us build a strong and agile evaluation tool that inspires museums to have a real impact in society.
The programme features an introduction to the MOI! Museums of Impact project and a presentation of the theoretical framework of developmental evaluation as a tool by leading museum professionals in their field. The key focus area of museum social relevance will be tackled by museum experts who will share insightful experiences on the use of self evaluation tools and present the benefits of projects that justify the social role of museums.
In the afternoon, participants will be invited to discuss about museums as important social agents that strive to achieve real impact in society and identify the different areas of impact they can have. The discussions will provide meaningful information for the development of the new framework as a relevant tool for all museums with social impact at their core.
